Father to three lively boys and with a life-long interest in rolling dice and playing with plastic soldiers. I enjoyed such roles as electrician, book seller (including a memorable occasion as the Cat-In-The-Hat), student, and supervisor for a team of lightning protection engineers. In 2006, I unexpectedly found myself in a job dealing with Subject Access Requests and earnt my data protection stripes over next 9 years gaining rich experience in DPA, FOIA, EIR at one of the largest unitary authorities in England. After that, and a short stint at another large authority, in a role that added complaints on top of that, I was very fortunate to become DPO for the largest construction project in Europe and possibly the most significant infrastructure project in the UK for 50 years.
